Miley Cyrus showed signs of further rebellions as she defended Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears’ wild behaviour, insisting that it’s “normal” for young stars to go off the rails.

The Hannah Montana actress, who caused shockwaves after going against her good girl image and posing in some racy photos for Vanity Fair, believes that LiLo and Brit have “good hearts”.

She says: “Everyone has their time. And I think most 21- to 25-year-olds go through this kind of thing. Basically, they’re being normal 21-year-olds, especially Lindsay (Lohan).

“I mean, most of that’s pretty normal. If you went to most high schools, I could point out Britneys (Spears) and Lindsays.

“I guess that’s why I’m so adamant about the Britneys and Lindsays and whatever, because I know those people and I know they have good hearts and they’re just struggling.”

Good thing she has that Ugly Betty gig to fall back on, because Lindsay Lohan’s movie prospects are rapidly going the way of the dodo.

After being touted as starring in two upcoming high-profile projects—a romantic comedy with Jack Black and a drama about the Manson Family—the actress needs to line up new work after being replaced in both films weeks before shooting was to commence, E! News has learned exclusively.

And the spinmeisters are out in full force to portray everything as hunky-dory.

Alison White of producer Patriot Pictures tells E! News that Lohan is no longer a part of Black’s next film Ye Olde Times, a rom-com in the world of Renaissance Faire.

But White says Lohan was not dumped. “We have just decided to go our separate ways. We currently have an offer out to another actor.”

White would not say whether Lohan was being replaced for insurance, scheduling reasons or for her reputation for being difficult on set.

“That’s all I know,” says White.

The Black movie had been slated to begin shooting already, but is now set to start Aug. 18 in Detroit, according to White.

Lohan is also being replaced as the star of the Manson Girls, in which she was set to play Nancy Pittman, a former follower of Charles Manson. The movie will start shooting July 21 in Los Angeles.

The film’s producer, Brad Wyman of Junction Films, told E! News two months ago that Lohan had signed on to star and, despite her brushes with the law and stints in rehab, there was no problem in insuring her for the movie.

Lohan’s publicist tells E! News that scheduling reasons were to blame for Lohan not taking part in the films.

“She never had a contract in place [for Manson Girls] and by the time something concrete came along, Lindsay had committed to other projects.”

As for Ye Olde Times, Lohan’s publicist says, “Producers asked to put her on hold, but Lindsay couldn’t because she was going to be busy.”

Lohan’s rep insists the star has a full schedule this summer already. Lohan, who recently shot a guest appearance for the Ugly Betty finale (a prelude to a multi-episode guest stint for next season), is signed on to star in Labor Pains, a new birthing comedy that will begin shooting in three weeks, and has been finishing up an album. She is currently shooting her leggings-line campaign and will be leaving next week for France to shoot a separate ad campaign.

Lindsay Lohan has withdrawn from an upcoming movie about convicted murderer Charles Manson, her publicist said Friday, following an Internet report she had been axed from the project.

The 21-year-old actress was due to play Manson family follower Nancy Pitman in the film “Manson Girls”, but has pulled out of the production because of scheduling conflicts, spokeswoman Leslie Sloane said.

“She is not able to do the film as she has signed on to the film ‘Labor Pains’ and the TV show ‘Ugly Betty’ and the dates conflict,” Sloane confirmed in an email to AFP. “She was interested in Manson if her schedule permitted.”

News of Lohan’s withdrawal from “Manson Girls” came as the respected movie industry blog, deadlinehollywooddaily.com reported that the actress had been dumped because other actors refused to work with her.

Dina Lohan tried valiantly to keep the subject on motherhood last night at Carlyle on The Green in Bethpage State Park as she was swarmed by a score of videographers, camera people and reporters asking about her daughter Lindsay’s foibles.

Lohan, there to accept a ” Long Island Top Mom” award at the Mingling Mom’s “Mom’s Night Out” event, posed with her cascading blond hair, and sidestepped questions about a tabloid story saying that Lindsay swiped a fur coat from a woman at a nightclub in Manhattan.

She said she and Lindsay were “laughing hysterically” about that claim. “You go away,” she said to a reporter from “Inside Edition” who continued to hound her, calling his line of questioning “evil” and reminding him to “be nice.”

“I’ve never partied with my daughter in my life,” she also said, explaining that when she appears with Lindsay at a club she is there as her manager.

Lohan, who is 45 and lives in Merrick, talked about how all mothers need support, invoking her own mom, Ann Sullivan, 82, and also of Merrick, whom she brought with her. What advice does Dina give Lindsay? “Just to be honest and to stay morally correct. And listen to your mother.”

Despite her well-chronicled problems, Lindsay Lohan continues to work. She’ll star next in “Labor Pains,” a comedy produced by Rick Schwartz about a young woman who pretends to be pregnant to avoid being fired. “When she’s treated better by everyone in her life, she tries to keep up the lie for nine months,” says a source. The troubled star couldn’t be in better hands. Schwartz, a Miramax veteran, produced the last three Martin Scorsese movies.
